Who I Am
I’m Stephanie! It took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Many of the things that came naturally to me, like being a good listener, being understanding and compassionate and a good perspective taker slowly moved me in the direction of becoming a therapist. I am originally from the mid-west and did a whole variety of jobs, moves and travels before deciding to pursue this career. After finishing my master’s degree, I worked in community mental health for many years with young adults, and then a long time with foster youth and their families. I decided to transition into private practice and I love my job! I feel very privileged to be invited into people’s lives and to offer them support in making changes that they want to make.
Wise Trees Counseling’s name came from how I think trees demonstrate a wonderful example of qualities we strive for, and things that are important to me, what I tend to identify with and value: wellness, wisdom, community, roots, equality, diversity, experience, nature, learning, growth, energy, strength, stillness and movement, stability, esteem and acceptance. These are things I am always seeking and working to improve, and like to help others work on and towards them too. I would really like to meet you and learn about how I can help!
